OUR FOUNDING STORY
Courtney Floersch
Owner & Clinical Director
I founded Little Peas in 2019, shortly after welcoming my first son. This life change provided me with a new perspective on the challenges families face in accessing consistent services in speech therapy.
I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in speech pathology from the University of Redlands in 2010, followed by a Master's Degree from the University of Oregon in 2012.
My early career included working in a multidisciplinary private practice in California, where I engaged in community screenings, individual evaluations and therapy, and was a part of a Targeted Diagnostic Assessments multidisciplinary team with a Developmental Pediatrician, Child Psychologist, and Occupational Therapist.
This experience deepened my understanding of child development, allowing me to consider the entire child and family system rather than focusing solely on speech and language development.

After returning to my hometown in Oregon, I worked in early intervention and hospital-based outpatient therapy. These experiences provided me firsthand insight into the barriers families encounter in accessing the services their children need.
I have completed advanced training in early language development, articulation and speech sound disorders, neurodiversity, sensory regulation, and feeding disorders.

OUR UNIQUE APPROACH
A family-centered practice
We believe that parents and caregivers are integral to the therapy process. Each therapy plan includes education and training so families can facilitate progress toward goals at home beyond the therapy session.

Family-centered pediatric speech and occupational therapy is essential because it recognizes that a child’s development occurs within the context of their family and environment.
By involving parents and caregivers in the therapy process we foster collaboration within your family to ensure goals are tailored to the child's unique needs and family dynamics. This holistic perspective not only enhances the effectiveness of therapy but also empowers families to support their child's growth at home, leading to more meaningful and sustainable progress.
OUR VALUES
The core principles of Little Peas
Expertise
Our expertise allows us to create tailored interventions that meet the unique needs of each child. We are committed to being life-long learners and continually update our knowledge and skills to ensure that families receive the highest quality care and the most effective strategies for their child’s development.

Collaboration
Collaboration is essential as we work closely with families, educators, and other healthcare professionals to develop a comprehensive approach to each child's needs. By fostering open communication and teamwork, we ensure that everyone involved is aligned in supporting the child’s growth and success.
Empowerment
We believe in empowering families by equipping them with the tools and knowledge needed to actively participate in their child's therapy journey. This approach not only boosts the child’s confidence but also enhances the family’s ability to support their development beyond therapy sessions.
Compassion
Compassion is at the heart of our practice, as we understand that each child and family faces unique challenges. By creating a warm and supportive environment, we help children feel safe and valued, which is crucial for their emotional and developmental progress.
Engagement
Engaging children in therapy is vital for fostering motivation and enthusiasm for learning. We incorporate fun and interactive techniques that capture their interest, making each session enjoyable and effective in achieving therapeutic goals. We are a play-based practice where fun leads to faster goal progress
Growth
We are committed to promoting growth, not just in speech and occupational skills, but in the overall development of the child and their family. We celebrate small victories and provide continuous support to help children and families navigate their developmental journeys with confidence and resilience.
